Engineering solution

Conical air-bearing design for coupled radial and axial support.

Use one conical support architecture to resolve radial, axial and angular support requirements inside a constrained spindle or rotor layout.

The engineering question

Can a conical aerostatic support provide the required radial and axial reactions while remaining manufacturable and dynamically credible?

Inputs

  • Required radial and axial loads
  • Cone-angle or envelope limits
  • Inner and outer radii
  • Clearance range and adjustment concept
  • Feed arrangement and supply pressure
  • Rotor speed and support layout

Outputs

  • Cone-angle and candidate geometry
  • Radial and axial capacity screen
  • Stiffness and flow estimates
  • Clearance-state comparison where applicable
  • Rotor-system consequence and limitations

Decision boundary

Conical geometry couples radial and axial behaviour. The screen does not replace final tolerance analysis, thermal assessment, detailed CFD or physical verification.

Typical commercial route

Use the Feasibility Screen for one bounded support question. Use an AURA Pilot when adjustable states, multiple supports or a full spindle layout must be compared.

Bring one defined requirement.
