Selection boundary · bearing physics
Gas-static and dynamic / foil bearings are not the same engineering route.
Breshev Engineering’s primary bearing work concerns externally pressurised gas-static bearings. Dynamic / foil bearings are a different physical support principle and should not be treated as an interchangeable extension of the same calculation workflow.
Gas-static bearing
Support pressure is supplied externally. The engineering basis therefore includes the pneumatic supply state as part of the bearing and spindle operating definition.
Relevant to the current AURA / Architecture Screen scope.Dynamic / foil bearing
Support pressure and behaviour arise from rotor motion and foil / compliant structure dynamics. That is a different physical model and a different specialist design problem.
Outside the present gas-static ICP unless explicitly scoped as separate research. Why the boundary matters
Do not let a shared word — “air bearing” — hide different physics.
Selection, modelling, commissioning and evidence questions differ. A useful early screen first identifies which support principle belongs to the machine requirement, then routes the engineering work accordingly.
